Meet Maeghan! She's born and raised in the loops; you can find her pigging around at the Noble Pig Brewhouse is Kamloops’ first and only Microbrewery!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
I love being in the moment and enjoying my time with whoever I am around.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
I am a huge fan of castles and cottages. They have the best gift ideas for the hard to shop for person.

Describe yourself in one word.
Energetic

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Adams Lake, it's my happy place. I love to recharge there.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Boating and hiking

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Hahaha, when am I not doing something embarrassing!?!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I can't pin one particular moment that has inspired me or has been the most inspiring but instead, I feel that my life is a collection of inspirational moments that have to lead me to where I am today. I try to be open to each person I meet, and new moment as they have all contributed to where I am today.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Growing up in Kamloops, my favorite thing to do was to get dirty and take out my Honda XR80 dirt bike. I loved that bike. At the age of 9, I asked my parents to buy me a bike, and my parents both said: "no, get a job if you want one." So, at the age of 9, I worked my first banquet with Kamloops catering serving the Kamloops Blazer Banquet to start the savings plan. Later that year I spent all 411 dollars to buy that Honda XR80 dirt bike. That bike was a such a sense of freedom and accomplishment. I knew at that age if you work hard you can achieve your goals.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
Giving back is so important for our community. Kamloops shines because of our generosity. Through the Pig we can contribute to multiple organizations like TRU, Kamloops Food Bank, Developing World Connections and various local based fundraisers. The two big ones I am a part of this year are the KCBIA, being a board member and the executive, and then supporting the SPCA through the fur ball.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

I would love to see equal opportunity and access to education around the world for all individuals. Knowledge is power and helps us be more compassionate because we understand.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Up behind Tranquille farm. I love me some jeep exploring time:)

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I would love to see the continuation of growth in the heart of our city. Our downtown has so many local businesses and brings the community together.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The giving nature of Kamloopsians.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. To help build opportunities for young leaders in hospitality. I would love to see the talent from TRU stay in town and help play a pivotal role convincing students to stay in our beautiful city.
2. Travel to Europe and complete the most epic beer tour of all times! Not sure how to do that yet, but I want to figure that one out in due time.
3. Purchase a vintage 1980's motorhome. Renovate and update it. Load it up with my husband and take it on a 4-month road trip across Canada

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
My right-hand pinky finger doesn't go straight because of my dirtbike injury. I probably should have gone to the doctor to get it check! LOL

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin...I think that is all the fun stuff I am on.

What is the name of your business/organization?
The Noble Pig Brewhouse and Forno on 5th

Why did you get into/start this business?
I was raised in the industry, and it's a part of who I am. I love hospitality and food and beverage especially.

What is the goal of your business?
The goal of our company is to create unique dining experiences that bring individuals together and create moments they will remember. Food feeds the soul, not just the tummy.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Being an entrepreneur is AMAZING. However, the struggles are real, and it can be tough to get out of those difficult moments because you feel so alone. I have learned that it's not the case and have a great support team!

What do you always find yourself saying?
Be the inspiration you want to see!

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Find what you love and do it for a living, you will never work another day in your life!

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
April Bloomfield - I have a major Chef crush on her and her business. I would LOVE to meet her and spend a day with her. Strong and empowered women in our industry. It amazes me that she has helped create a business that has a Michelin star at a gastro pub. Can we say life goals! She also has two great cookbooks and is a leader in her field. Yup, I am for sure geeking out on her now.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It is the right thing to do whenever possible.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Never giving up hope and working towards building on our dreams. We are opening Forno on 5th it's going to be so much fun!

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
I have to send a huge shout out to the piglets at the pig. They are the reason why we have been able to build on our goals and keep pushing forward. It is so unique to be able to work with such incredibly passionate team members who support local!
