Meet Melody Devitt. Melody was born in Prince George but has lived in Kamloops for three years. She is an independent woman who loves to work at her craft of photography.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I was born and raised in Prince George, I moved to Kamloops almost 3 years ago.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
Kristie Mulcahy because we have the most awesome hiking adventures!
What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
The Art We Are, it's so unique and supports local artists.
Describe yourself in one word.
Independent.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
India, I have always wanted to explore and photograph the culture there.
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Hiking!
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
While I was backpacking alone across South Africa people would go out of their way to help me by give me a ride, or prepare me a meal. It was incredibly inspiring to see the kindness in strangers that you don't often see here in our fast paced world.

Hanging out with my horses.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I try to donate my time or sessions to local fundraisers when I can.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I want people to be more kind and thoughtful to strangers. I also want people to realize life isn't about just making money, we need to slow down and cherish the moments and the people in our lives.
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The people, and the awesome hiking trails so close to town.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Fly in a hot air balloon.
2. Explore the world.
3. Spend a few months driving across Canada in a camper van.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I've been skydiving but would never even consider bungee jumping.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I fell in love with capturing my travels and the people I met along the way.
What is the goal of your business?
To create lasting memories for my clients to look back on and cherish.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Finding the balance between my passion and paying the bills. Building my business.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Perfect! Awesome!

Travel! You see life so differently when you are out of your comfort zone.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My niece because she's just the cutest!
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To help support local families and their dreams.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
To have been able to travel as much as I have.
