Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
Born and raised in Kamloops - Left for 7 years and recently returned!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My Fiance Riley. He is my greatest counterpart. We are always laughing and thinking the same thing, if we aren't out adventuring we can just be in each other's company in comfort.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Far + Wide. I don't think there's a single item in this store that I don't want. Their overall aesthetic is so calming and beautiful. I don't think it will ever be out of style.

Describe yourself in one word.
Silly.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Off the coast of Greece, on a Yacht... Because Greece is on my bucket list and yacht because you said anywhere!

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Fishing! There are so many fantastic lakes in the area!

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Well... I peed on my PE teacher and Vice-Principal. True Story - I was in a drinking and driving assembly in high school and the details of a car accident made me faint and seizure. They picked me up, sat me down outside and that's when it happened. Sorry.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
My parents are the most inspiring people to me. They've helped me through some incredibly tough times and taught me everything that I know. They've taught me to do good and forgive those who don't. I've watched them go through their own battles with grace and proof that perseverance is key. Every time I get through something that I was concerned about, it inspires me to keep going and take on bigger challenges.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My entire childhood was incredible. My family was so supportive and able to give me more than enough to make it in the world. However, there was one Christmas while my family was building a new home and we were living in a temporary space. The three of us decided to go sleep in the new - unfinished home. We set up a Christmas tree and all slept on foamies in the bare living room. In the morning we opened our presents and played with new remote cars. That's the only Christmas I remember that it was just the three of us, but it was one of my favorites.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I used to volunteer for Shaw TV in the Okanagan. I hosted a couple of informational videos called Top 10. It was a great way to give exposure to places in the area. Since only recently returning back to the Kamloops area, I have yet to find an outlet, However, I feel that you can give back to the community by being a friendly neighbor. I always encourage going out of your way to help others or make a friendly comment. The littlest thing can make someone's day and it even makes you happier too!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Jealousy/Comparison. It's sad to see so many people wanting what others have and ignoring what they have. Especially when there are likely others out there coveting what you have. The grass may look greener but it comes with consequences. Take what you have and love it because ultimately you could lose that too and have even less. Furthermore, I wish that people wouldn't compare themselves to others, especially social media stars (or celebrities). It's just not real. So many people feel they aren't enough because of comparison and it's really upsetting to me that they look up to these fake idols. YOU ARE ENOUGH! Also animal abuse. That needs to get the heck out of the world.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
My studio of course!

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
Besides the obvious - homelessness and drug activity - I think Kamloops would benefit from having a larger airport, both boosting tourism and saving residents from requiring to take the far (sometimes dangerous) trip to Kelowna or Vancouver.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
There is something in the area for everyone.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Have my grandma at my wedding. Own a hypoallergenic kitty. Build a cabin on a private lake.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I do not like coffee - at all.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Instagram: @randellepalmer, @randemonium_.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Randemonium Art.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I've always been crafty, but I started making my own art because I had a bunch of empty walls and couldn't afford real art. Then I started getting requests and it really blew up from there.

What is the goal of your business?
Continue to fund my obsession for creating art.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Finding a balance. I am constantly go go go. When I start a project I have a hard time putting it down and typically push myself harder than I should.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"Sorry, I've been super busy!"

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
If there's something you want to do, do it. Do it now. And if there's something you have to do, but don't want to. Do it now. Avoiding things is the root of unhappiness/lack of inspiration.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My fiance? Well since I do get to spend all my time with him, I'd have to say Ellen Degeneres. Watching her help people gives me so much happiness and I'd love to know her beyond the screen. She is one celebrity that I could understand idolizing because she does everything with a good heart and is unapologetically herself. I feel a whole day with her would be incredibly inspiring, and hopefully make me see the world in a brighter light. Also, I'd love a good cry laugh session with her.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Support local businesses!! As a 'starving artist' it's hard to see people spend hundreds at Walmart on mass-produced items when there are so many talented individuals in our area that make and sell hand-made, often one-of-a-kind products. We want to help!

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Honestly, I'm proud of how consistently happy as I am. I used to have a lot of negativity in my life,

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Ah... Karen Palmer, my mom. She's the most caring parent and hardworking artist there ever was (also insanely talented).

My choice for the KamloopsBCNow In Focus spotlight is:
Cheryl Christian. My very talented, True Kamloopsian, Auntie.

Some general comments I would like to share are:
Thank you so much for featuring me! I love this concept! I would also like to say some of these comment sections only allowed me to type so many words, so I apologize for some of my more boring replies. I could genuinely go on and on about some of these topics! Also, mom, if you're reading this, I would have voted for you for the feature, but you don't live in Kamloops anymore! And Riley, if you're reading this, I'm sorry I didn't choose you for the whole day hangout. You're still my favorite.
