Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
Since I was 8 years old!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My kids! I love watching them learn and grow, they teach me so much about myself. Also, I do believe everyone who crosses my path has something to teach me; getting to know new people and giving my full attention has been something I have really enjoyed!

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
I love Jardines Domain! It is such a beautiful store and I always feel so welcome there!

Describe yourself in one word.
Enthusiastic!

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
With the amazing weather we are having in Kamloops right now, I am loving spending time in my own backyard. I feel very grateful to live by the river it is so peaceful and brings me so much joy!

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Going to the Saturday Farmer's Market with my family! It is so fun to check out the local produce and mingle with the community. I always end up running into friends.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Hmmm... I would say I work a lot on my personal development, so in this part of my life, not much is embarrassing. But there was a time in high school when a boy I liked walked in on my using the bathroom on a field trip, that was pretty mortifying.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Giving birth to my kids! With my son I swear I had an out of body experience that was very spiritual. I did not use any drugs and felt the whole experience but I felt so supported and safe that it was a truly magical experience. I think the only reason I was able to have that experience was because of my work with Breath Integration Counselling and Training Centre. Doing that work allowed me to really tap into my full potential and be more confident and trusting in the universe.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Any kind of adventure! I used to love it when my mom would just randomly say, "We are going on a road trip!" I have two sisters and the four of us would pack up and hit the road. We also did a lot of fun trips with my dad and I am so grateful to have had those experiences, they made me the woman I am today. I LOVE adventures.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I would like to improve in this department! Neora, the company I am a part of gives back to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, we do some local events that are very fun. I am currently doing the Breath Practitioner Training through Breath Integration and they do a lot of fundraising for the community. Right now they are raising money for The Kamloops Hospice!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
To spread more love than fear. I believe this is already shifting, but as a mom, it has become even more clear to me that this has to change. We are so hardwired to go to the negative, to focus on what's going wrong not right, to search for the worst case. My personal development has allowed me to see a new world, a new way of thinking where we can focus on collaboration; bringing people together, realizing that our vulnerabilities are actually our strengths, that the things we most fear are the things that actually create the most healing and growth.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
If it was to create peace it would be to go to the beach and take a walk! If it was for some fun time... going downtown, grabbing a coffee at Cafe Motivo and hitting up the downtown shops: Jardines Domaine, Mainstreet, Far and Wide, Castles and Cottages!

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I live on the North Shore by MacDonald Park. There is a lot of theft and drug use. I don't like when my kids go to play there and there is dangerous materials around. I think this is already changing but its still a concern some days.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The energy of the people here! I think we have such a great group of people willing to grow, willing to help out, to support each other! I love the vibe here.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
To go to Bora Bora with my family! It might sound crazy to bring your kids there but its something I envisioned years ago and I would love to go! Present at our Neora national convention! I love public speaking. It was always terrifying to me but I have been able to develop the skill and it lights me up to be able to inspire people on a big level! Go to a Tony Robbins Date with Destiny with my husband!! I am so in love with personal development and it would be a dream come true to go to one of his events. Not sure if my hubby would be into it but I would love to do it with him... Devin?!

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I used to be terrified of everything, I would refuse to go or do anything! I think I got used to covering it all up, but through personal growth, I have been able to really get grounded and start to shine in a more outgoing way.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
RikkiAndrew on Facebook and @rikkiandrew on Instagram!

What is the name of your business/organization?
Neora is my side gig I do from home with my kiddos, and I have just recently started as a Breath Practitioner!

Why did you get into/start this business?
Neora it was to create more income for my family as we had kids, and get all my products FREE! Breath Practitioner was to give this gift back to the community! That work has had a profound effect on my life.

What is the goal of your business?
My goal at anything I do is to inspire others to live to their full potential.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
To figure out who I am and what I want. Goodness, I grew up doing my best to make everyone else comfortable. I have realized that life feels so powerless. I now do my best to focus on what I can control and what my deepest yearnings are.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"I love you" to my kids especially, I snuggle them, hug and kiss them and say this all day!!

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Figure out who you are and what are your deepest desires for this life! Find things that bring you joy and don't be afraid to the parts that are yearning to be healed. Be vulnerable and never give up on yourself.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I would say Rachel Hollis. Personal Development can be an interesting topic, people either love it or are totally turned off by the idea. She has been able to make the topic relatable and bring people in with her humour and her humility! I think she has a lot to teach and it would be an honour to spend some time learning from her.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
I love building relationships with the people in this community. It gives such a solid foundation for my growing kids.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My kids! But a close second is the work I am doing on myself through Breath Integration.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My sister Jody Marshall! She just had her second baby and is a lash artist, makes beautiful scrunchies, and is my business partner in Neora! She is a rockstar.

My choice for the KamloopsBCNow In Focus spotlight is:

Some general comments I would like to share are:
I am so grateful for the opportunity to share some of myself and my journey with the community! I have been blessed in so many ways and am hoping that through my journey and growth I can have a ripple to others. You are braver and stronger than you think, you have so much you are capable if you believe in yourself and do the work! Life is a gift and so are you. Let life surprise you!
