Meet Dr. Tamzin Morley. She's had the pleasure of calling Kamloops her home for the past two years!

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I was born in South Africa and immigrated to Canada 20 years ago. I’ve lived in several countries around the world and within the last two years, I’ve had the pleasure of calling Kamloops home.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My partner, Justin. We both have similar ideas for how we want to live our lives. We travel well together. We work well together. And I feel at home when I spend time with him.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Summit Gourmet Meats. I love their store because they are owned by a local family, they source their products from local farms and offer gluten-free options for me and my family.

Describe yourself in one word.
Compassionate.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Vietnam. I’ve always been a huge fan of Vietnamese cuisine and culture and can’t wait to visit in the next few years!

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Snowboarding at Sun Peaks and hiking the Battle Bluffs.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Working with my patients every day inspires me. I feel privileged that my patients share their life stories with me. It’s during these visits that I’ve realized how capable and resilient people can be.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Going on safari with my family in the Kruger National Park.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I donate blood to the Mobile Canadian Blood Services every time they’re in Kamloops.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
My wish would be that we accepted and celebrated our differences.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Lac Le Jeune. I love being close to the water. It’s a place where I feel relaxed and happy.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
Incorporating more environmentally sustainable policies such as a plastic bag ban.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The people. Kamloopsians are kind, generous and welcoming people. Kamloops is the first place I’ve lived where I’ve truly felt a connection to my community.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Travel to 40 countries by the time I’m 40. I'm at 29 countries so far!
2. Buy a house
3. Become a mom

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I learnt how to swim when I was nine months old.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Personally through Facebook. Professionally through my website.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Dr. Tamzin Morley, Naturopathic Doctor.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I’ve known I wanted to be a physician since I was 12. And everything in my life thus far has been focused in that direction. I want to foster and support our community by keeping people healthy — that’s why I started my practice in Kamloops.

What is the goal of your business?
My goal is to empower our community by providing patients with the tools they need to improve their overall health and well-being. This is achieved through personalized, continuous, patient-centred care.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Being patient with myself and realizing that personal growth can take time.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Fantastic! Because life is fantastic.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Appreciate and value time with family and friends.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Barack Obama.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
As a local business owner, I know how important it is to support families in our community, so it’s my way of paying it forward.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Graduating from Naturopathic Medical School.
