Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I was born in New Westminster, but have lived in Kamloops since I was 7, so 25 years!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
Oh, this is a tough one...I really like spending time with my family- my hubby and 4 kids, my friends, connecting with new people, and selfishly and unapologetically, I love spending time with myself :)

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Oh!! I love Far & Wide as they always have really unique and beautiful things. You can look around their store and see something new every time! I also really love Mittz- their food is always amazing and the service is top notch!

Describe yourself in one word.
Caring.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Europe. My husband and I are suckers for history and old architecture. I cannot wait to explore different parts of Europe, it is on my bucket list.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I am pretty boring lol. I really like sitting on a bench downtown with a coffee or tea and people watch. I also enjoy walking around and exploring all the downtown shops, there are so many good and local ones!

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I am pretty clumsy, so I've had a few occasions. Once I was walking with a friend, looking at her, when I ran right into a brick post. It just so happened to be a really busy area and we all had a really good laugh!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Inspiring. My whole life I dreamed about getting married and having a big family. I would have to say just that, it's more than one, but that is my world. My husband is amazing- he challenges me, supports me, and we make a pretty awesome team. My kids are my world. I have learned so much from each and every one of them, and I continue to learn from them every day. I have become a better person because of my husband and kids.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My favourite childhood memory...that's a tough one.
I loved playing different sports- tae kwon do, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer. My mom used to drive me all over the place, I enjoyed the time with her and having her at most of my events.
I also love the memories of dirt biking with my dad.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I support a local charity called May Cause Radiance. They are "Supporting Young Adults affected by CANcer through their journey back to health, through wellness, community and some extra sparkle along the way." I also provide pro bono coaching support twice a year for 2 moms. I volunteer at our local school at Sun Peaks, reading with the kids. I also volunteer at local events like The Interior Wellness Festival and The Mountain Spirit Festival.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Eliminate Judgment. There is so much judgment in our world. I would love to see people leading more with compassion than judgment. You never know what someone else is going through in their life.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
I will usually hang in my office for my alone time. I love my office, so spending time there is bliss.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I would love to see recycling bins (not can & bottle bins), beside every garbage can to give the opportunity for less waste.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The people are so friendly and supportive of one another. It has a true community feel. It is a big city with a small town feel. I love it.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Traveling to Europe.
Traveling to Thailand and Vietnam.
Traveling across Canada.
Apparently, it's all about travel :)

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
When I was little I always wanted to be a pediatrician. I have always loved babies, hence why one of my biggest dreams growing up was to become a mom.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
FB @insightnaturalhealing, IG theoverwhelmedmom.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Insight Natural Healing-Support for Moms.

Why did you get into/start this business?
April 2014- I have always like helping and supporting people, plus naturally, people I barely knew would come to me for advice and support. My mission is to assist moms around the world to take time for themselves, feel more confident, and live at ease.

What is the goal of your business?
My goal is to continue to provide a platform for moms that is supportive, provides guidance, and always have my clients at top of mind. My vision is for all moms to think of themselves as extraordinary.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
My biggest struggle would have had to be trusting the process and not trying to force it.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"What is good for you (taking care of you) is good for everyone"

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Be supported. Do your best. Trust yourself. Take time for you. Rest. Be Present.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
It would be Oprah. She has been an inspiration to me since I was a tiny little girl. She is just an incredible human being.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It supports local families, getting to know local businesses and seeing what is offered right here in Kamloops. The more we shop here, the more we see the amazing services and people in our community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I lean on being a mom. However, I am also very proud of the book I wrote- "The Busy Mom's Greatest Companion. Your guide to going from overwhelmed to overjoyed." The messages I received on how it has helped others really fills me up and makes me happy.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My husband, Owen Munson. This guy has stuck by me through the very thick and the very thin. He has taught me so much and continues to support me in my ventures- even when he doesn't quite understand lol. My coaches and mentors- who teach and support me.

My choice for the KamloopsBCNow In Focus spotlight is:
Tessa Inkster- founder of May Cause Radiance.
