Global corporations and B.C. government Ministries are looking for tech solutions to their biggest problems—and their hoping local innovators in Kamloops are up to the challenge.

The BC Innovation Council, a crown agency of the province, recently announced the Regional Innovation Opportunities tour to showcase regional innovation and help local companies build their businesses where they live. The tour aims to grow companies in B.C. communities by connecting them to business opportunities in local and global markets.

Local organizations like the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), as well as provincial and global giants like FortisBC and IBM have joined to showcase their significant business challenges and invite innovative solutions from Kamloops’ innovators.

What kind of business opportunities will be presented?

IBM is seeking a way to track the location of their technicians during field operations; BCLC is looking to develop engaging and innovative gaming experiences to attract new players, and FortisBC is seeking to leverage technology to increase the supply of renewable natural gas in a cost-effective way.

'This is a huge opportunity for businesses in Kamloops to gain first-hand knowledge of real business problems that can become a doorway to local customers and global markets,”'says Carl Anderson, President and CEO, of BC Innovation Council.

The Regional Innovation Opportunities tour stops in Kamloops on February 10th, at Streamline’s offices at Kamloops Innovation Centre. The tour also visits six other communities between Feb 2nd and March 6th, including Prince George, Victoria, the West Kootenays, Nanaimo, Terrace and Kelowna.
