A few things for a great weekend in Kamloops

The sun is shining and the weekend is here! Whether you want to grab a drink on the patio or wander the farmers' market, there's lots to check out this weekend:

Red Collar is hosting Boogie Beer, a limited release cask night and fundraiser in celebration of the 20th Annual Boogie the Bridge on Saturday. The cask will be a strawberry blonde, limited to 100 glasses and it’s first come, first served. An additional 75 cents from every blonde beer sold will also be donated to Boogie. It’s happening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the brew pub.

Pirate and the Bloody Bohemian will be live at the Art We Are on Saturday at 7 p.m. The duo is straight out of Bella Coola, with an alternative country dirt-rock sound. Cover is $5 at the door.

Meet a Machine is happening at the Secwepemc Powwow Grounds Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 60 machines will be on display and the kids can touch, sit on and, in some cases, ride the equipment. They include excavators, boom trucks, army vehicles, vintage vehicles, dragsters and much more. There will be pony buggy rides, face painting, bouncy castles and many other vendors set up. Cost is $5 per person or $15 per family.

Country star Kip Moore will be in Kamloops for a concert at Sandman Centre on Saturday. The multi-platinum singer-songwriter will perform songs from his best-selling album Up All Night. Tickets are at Ticketmaster.

Saturday is Earth Day and there’s a massive one-day recycling event happening at Aberdeen Mall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Best Buy parking lot. Best Buy will be collecting electronic waste to be professionally recycled. Donated used clothing will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters and ASK Wellness will be collecting used mattresses for a $10 fee in support of their programs. Check out the full list of accepted items online.

More Earth Day events are also happening this weekend at Prince Charles Park and at Sun Rivers. Ferguson Equipment is hosting Demo Days in the Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, showing off the latest in battery powered equipment. Local Chef Ryan Clark from Hello Toast will be grilling tasty dishes by donation.

At Sun Rivers, check out green exhibitors, the community garden and catch a tour of the water treatment plant. It’s happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Award-winning comedian Ron James will be at the Sagebrush Theatre on Sunday. He’s bringing his all-new stand-up show Pedal to the Metal to Kamloops for a show slated to start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are almost sold out, but a few are available through the Kamloops Live box office.

Interior Freeze Athletics is hosting its second annual Jump Into Spring craft fair on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Check out products from home-based businesses and craft vendors. They’ll also have raffle prizes, a bake sale and a play area for the kids. Freeze Athletics is at 14-970 Laval Crescent.

Don't forget, the Kamloops Farmers’ Market starts this weekend. The outdoor market returns to the 200 block of St. Paul Street on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, with vendors of all kinds: farmers, prepared food, home-based businesses and artisans.
