Vancouver Island is known for its extraordinary beauty and milder weather when it comes to Canada’s chilly climate.
But what we lack in snow, we make up for in rain.
The island can see up to 148 days of rain annually, which can make some magnificent waterfalls!
We compiled a list of our top five favorite waterfalls that are a must-see on any bucket list.
About an hour and a half away from Victoria, Christie Falls, is not one to miss.
With its location being above the Ladysmith Sportsmen Club Bush Creek Hatchery, the road is only accessible on Sunday’s from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. when the volunteers are there.
If you go at any other time, you can park at the shut gate and walk the 2.5 km on the logging road.
Trust us when we say it's worth the walk!
This well-known waterfall is one that you will not want to miss on your trip to the Island.
With the waterfall and beach an hour and a half away from Victoria, you will need a car to get to this one.
Once you park in the China Beach parking lot you will start your 45-minute walk down to the beach through the woods. You will have to treck over many tree roots and also a suspension bridge.
There are stairs at the end to walk down, so be sure to take your time when there has been rainfall as the wood gets slippery.
Once at the beach, you will be able to see the waterfall immediately to the left. To be able to walk underneath the waterfall, make sure you go at low tide.
Also on the beach is the famous rope swing! Bring proper walking shoes, water and a snack to enjoy on the beach!

With only an hour and fifteen-minute drive and a short 10-minute walk to the beach through the mossy woods, this is one of the more accessible falls to get to, and also the most photographed.
Stand underneath the falls to get a photo, and take a walk down the rocky beach.
The famous surfing beach has a hidden gem, and that gem is a massive waterfall just a short walk from the parking lot.
Once you get down the potholed road to the parking lot, you will see the path that goes down to the beach.
It is a short walk to the beach, but be sure to keep to the left when you start to see a path on the right. This will take you closer to the waterfall.
Once on the beach keep walking to your left for around 10 minutes.
When you get around the corner, you will see a stream start to go into the ocean. This is where you need to start walking up, there is a narrow path on the side, but be careful as rocks and pathways can be slippery with the water.
Once you get there, you will see the falls, feel free to go inside to the waterfall or stay where you are to enjoy it from afar.
This is the closest waterfall to Victoria, with it being only 30 minutes away from downtown.
This mighty waterfall in the fall and winter months is one that you need to see!
Parking at Goldstream park you will walk a short few minutes until you go into a tunnel that goes underneath the highway.
From there you will continue to walk alongside the stream until you see the waterfall, only a couple of minutes from the tunnel.
In the late summer, the stream is less forceful and you can get up close to the waterfall and can have a swim in the pool it creates.
During the winter months, it is best to keep your distance from the powerful waterfall, as it carries a lot of the rain we get during the wet season.
Since you are already there, be sure to check out the old railroad trestle which is a short but steep hike to the right of the waterfall.
