Kamloops man wins $500K in Lotto Max and will help wildfire evacuees with the money

A Kamloops man is paying it forward after winning half a million dollars.

Jason Labby won $500,000 playing the Extra on the July 7th Lotto Max draw and now he plans on using some of that money to help wildfire evacuees.

“I believe in helping people,” Labby said. “I’m donating some of my winnings to help people affected by the wildfires across B.C.”

Labby is doing a wonderful deed, but he’s also keeping some of the money to spoil himself.

“I’m going to buy a home for myself and relax more,” he explained. “I’m celebrating every day because every day is a good day.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Esso Bear Den in Chase.
