VIDEO: Vancouverites are cheering every night when healthcare workers do shift change

So many people are currently stuck at home as they do their part to try and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Healthcare workers, on the other hand, are still going to work, putting themselves at risk on the front lines of the pandemic and working long and tiring shifts.

In Vancouver, those two worlds collide every night at 7 pm.

That’s when most healthcare workers undergo a shift change, which means you have hoards of nurses, doctors and more who are coming and going from local hospitals.

Plenty of residents who are taking part in this new, incredible nightly tradition are posting videos of it online, allowing it to grow in size each night.

Cat Toffoli, wife of Vancouver Canucks’ winger Tyler Toffoli, posted a video on Monday night and it garnered a response from Andy Lassner, executive producer of the Ellen Show, who said “This. Is. Fantastic.”

It truly is, and the love is clearly being felt by those healthcare workers.

One responded to Toffoli’s tweet to say “keeps us nurses going! Thanks for the support.”

Hopefully other cities start to follow suit and we can take a couple minutes every night to show our healthcare workers how much we appreciate their heroic efforts during this time.
