Video of bear eating ice-cream in an Alberta Dairy Queen drive-thru under investigation

Here’s something you don’t see every day.

Discovery Wildlife Park in Alberta posted video earlier in the week of a one-year-old bear named Berkley enjoying a tasty treat in a Dairy Queen drive-thru.

In the video, the bear is seen leaning out the back window of the truck eating soft serve off a spoon provided by the Innisfail Dairy Queen’s owner.

Eventually, the bear starts eating the ice-cream directly from the cone.

This wasn’t a random encounter, however, as the bear was taste testing ice cream for her upcoming first birthday party.

The wildlife park says Berkley settled on vanilla and peanuts.

There were some understandable concerns in the video’s comments, but Discovery Wildlife Park informed viewers that the ice cream was in no way bad for the young bear.

“Bear gastrointestinal systems are not like cats or dogs,” a reply to a concerned commenter said. “It is not harmful for her!”

However, the Alberta government isn’t entirely convinced and, according to local news outlets, the video is under investigation.

The wildlife park responded by claiming that the bear was safely chained up in the back of the truck, while the Dairy Queen owner says he never feared for his safety at all.

Despite that, the video was taken down on Friday morning as this story was being written.
