Well-known household appliance brand KitchenAid has had several of their products listed in a national recall.
The electric kettles have been named in multiple reports of burn injuries due to the handle breaking off.
In Canada, the recall affects products dating all the way back to September of 2013.
The recall was issued by the Government of Canada and Health Canada on Feb. 20, 2018, over a number of KitchenAid’s 1.7 litre electric kettles.
The item at risk consists of a metal body, plastic handles and comes in multiple colours.
Affected products can be identified by looking at both the product model number and the product serial number, which can find both of these numbers on the bottom of the kettle.
For anyone who has an affected product, Health Canada has warned to stop using the kettle immediately and contact Whirlpool. The company will issue a free replacement.
You can find more contact information for Whirlpool on the company’s website.
