Nissan recalls over 240,000 vehicles due to fire hazard

Keep your Nissan out of your garage tonight, warns the popular automaker.

Nearly 240,000 Nissan vehicles worldwide have been placed under recall order due to an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) fluid leak that could lead to a fire.

According to the automaker, the leak could possibly create an electrical short and “in rare instances, may lead to a fire.”

As a result, Nissan is advising drivers to park their vehicles outdoors and away from other structures until it has been inspected and repaired by a Nissan dealership.

The recall applies to the following vehicles:

  • 2015 to 2017 Nissan Murano
  • 2016 and 2017 Nissan Maxima
  • 2017 to 2018 Nissan Pathfinder
  • 2017 Infiniti QX60 vehicles

Drivers are instructed to immediately stop driving their vehicles if the ABS lamp warning illuminates continually for more than 10 seconds after the engine starts.

Nissan owners can check if their vehicle is affected on the company’s website or contact Nissan Consumer Affairs at 1-800-NISSAN1 (1-800-647-7261).

Dealerships are now offering repairs for the affected parts.
