Marijuana isn’t legal yet, but that isn’t stopping one pharmaceutical company from preparing for the inevitable.
Shoppers Drug Mart has posted a job listing for a senior brand manager for its medical marijuana division.
“Reporting to the Director, New Drug Strategy, you will lead the medical brand strategy and all marketing activities with physicians and HCPs in the cannabis space,” reads the posting.
“The development and integration of the medical brand plan will involve the consideration of the current cannabis market; legislation, regulations and access challenges.”
You’ll need a few things before you even consider applying for the job, including four to six years of business management experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in the cannabis industry is considered a big asset as well.
The successful applicant will be tasked with driving prescription growth for the company in the cannabis space, as well as managing the physician outreach strategy and target key opinion leaders.

Other companies will surely be following Shoppers Drug Mart’s lead in the near future and it goes to show how close the federal legalization of marijuana is.
