How to spend the perfect day in the Lower Mission

If you’ve passed through the Lower Mission lately, you may have noticed that it’s developing into a really charming area with lots of fun things to see and do. With a number of restaurants, shops and beaches, Pandosy Street is starting to feel like an extension of downtown.

A full day can be enjoyed in this neck of the woods, with hours of entertainment available all within a few blocks. If you’re looking for something fun to do in Kelowna, either on your own, with friends or on a hot date, why not soak up the rest of summer with this itinerary!


Morning class at Moksha Yoga

What better way to start the day than with some stretching, strengthening and flowing? Moksha Yoga offers different styles of hot yoga classes that are great for both beginners and experienced yogis alike.

Coffee and breakfast at Waterfront Cafe & Catering

Have you checked out this new kid on the block yet? Waterfront Cafe on Abbott Street is the perfect place to stop for a tasty bite to eat and fuel up for the day.

If you're there on a weekend, try delicious brunch items like blueberry buttermilk pancakes, eggs benedict, huevos rancheros and more. It's also a great place to grab a fresh pastry and latte.


Cruise around on a Dropbike

Now that you’re fuelled up, it’s time to do some exploring! The new Dropbikes that can be found around Kelowna are a great way to get some exercise and venture around, for practically no charge since they cost only $1 per hour.

You’ve probably seen the white and orange bikes around, set up at multiple stations throughout the city. There are several drop spots in the Lower Mission - just download the app to find the one nearest you.

The Lower Mission is the perfect area to cruise around on a bike, with a nice, flat terrain and bike paths. The bike will come in handy for the remainder of your day!


Paddling on the lake

It just wouldn’t be a perfect Okanagan summer day without some time at the lake. Bike over to the ever-popular Gyro beach where plenty of people will be lounging in the sun, playing volleyball and getting out on the lake.

Stop by Okanagan Beach Rentals and rent a kayak or a paddleboard for an awesome hour or two out on the water. It's a great way to get some exercise while staying cool, and it’s a ton of fun.

The new paddle trail which passes right through the Lower Mission along the lake is making it easier than ever for people to enjoy getting out on the water! If you’re feeling a bit hungry after, stop by the big apple concession stand for a quick snack.


Shopping along Pandosy Street

Whether you enjoy window shopping, searching for original decor or expanding your wardrobe, the shops along Pandosy Street won’t disappoint!

Take a stroll and check out the many shops, from clothing boutiques to gift stores to unique little spots. While you're at it, grab a movie from Leo's Videos, one of the last remaining video stores in the area, so that you can enjoy a flick the old-fashioned way to end off the night!


Dinner and a drink at Mission Tap House & Grill

With tasty pub-style food, gluten-free and vegan options, tons of beers on tap and daily features, Mission Tap House is a great place to grab a drink and bite to eat.

With all the exploring you did today, you’ve earned some good food and a refreshing beer or two. If you’re feeling a little competitive, head over to the pool table for a friendly game.
