Kelowna Chamber of Commerce's 36th Annual Chamber Golf Tournament was its biggest one to date

The 21st of July, 2021 could not have been a better day for the 36th Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament to commence in full swing at The Harvest. With the wind just right and the weather in excellent spirits, 156 golfers comprised some of the most influential and impactful business and community leaders in Kelowna kicked off an exciting day of golfing for what’s been the biggest golf tournament the Chamber has ever organized.

On a long, but beautiful day, the participants spent a day in the sun as they put their golfing skills to test against their peers before concluding the day. The format this year was slightly modified due to COVID restrictions, without the usual shotgun opening and with tee times starting from 8 in the morning. However, this also helped accommodate more foursomes in the tournament, which is why this year, the 36th Annual Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament had a record number of entries.

As an organization that’s focused on connecting business and growing communities, the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce believes in organizing events that allow opportunities for collaboration and networking. As one of the leading non-profits and voices of business for Central Okanagan, events such as the 36th Annual Golf Tournament help raise funds and generate interest in numerous community initiatives.

One such initiative is Meals on Wheels, which was the Designated Charity of the event. Moreover, the Chamber helped raise funds for the Indian Residential Schools Survivors Society and the valley's very own Okanagan Sun Football Club.

An event is only as good as the people that help make it happen, and the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce is extremely grateful and appreciative of its main collaborator and presenter, Parke Pacific Projects Ltd, who led the event to be the great success it was. Not to mention its community and media partners, and the various organizations that sponsored every hole in the tournament with prizes adding up to the total of $50,000.

While there were 4 hole-in-ones worth $10,000 each- even though the participants played with immense enthusiasm and skill- there were no par threes holed out in one for the day. Nevertheless, there was an excellent display of golfing by the top team. The top team: Adam Hutchens, Kevin Schmidt, Dylan Switzer, and Michael Smith, won the Texas scramble event by shooting an astonishing 56 which is 16 under (par 72).

There’s always next year, and it goes without saying that the tournament will be back in all its glory, with Parke Pacific Projects generously agreeing to be the title sponsor again. Even better, you can expect the tournament to take place in its usual time in May 2022. Everyone eagerly awaits its return.
