Our Okanagan wineries have been struck with cupid’s arrow this year as events for the month of love are popping up. Here is your guide to the best events and specials by some of our favorite wineries in the valley.
For those who love that romantic at-home setting and want to impress your love with a special night in, you’ll want to experience Phantom Creek Estates special takeaway dinner event for two. The beautifully catered meal features 63 Acres beef tenderloin, potato payé, delicate squash, rainbow carrots and more. Wine paired bottles of 2021 Rose, 2020 Viognier, or 2019 Petite Cuvée, are available to add to the at-home experience at a reduced price. The meal kit must be ordered in advance and can be picked up at the winery on February 14, or delivery is available to local residents from Penticton to Osoyoos at no extra cost. Heating and cooking instructions are included with the kit. Valentine’s Day meal kits can be ordered here.
For those who love exclusivity, Osoyoos Larose is opening its cellar to a select few for the first time! Limited memberships are available, but those lucky enough to snag a spot will be privileged to yearly shipments of rare wines and specialty vintages. Members also receive early access to new releases, private winemaker dinners, and free shipping. Osoyoos Larose only uses grapes grown in their own estate vineyard, using sustainable and organic farming practices.
For those looking for a tantalizing dining experience for 2-6 people, Mission Hill Family Estate Winery is hosting a Valentine's Day Celebration Dinner on February 14. You will be met with a private reception including welcome wine and decadent canapés, followed by a four-course dinner prepared by Executive Chef, Patrick Gayler. Wine pairings will accompany each Okanagan-focused course and guests will leave with a bottle of Exhilarat!on Brut and Karat chocolate for two. Reservations can be made here. Limited seats are available.
For those looking for wine and food pairing box sets, check out Blasted Church’s Gourmet Blessings Box Set. Not only does it include the 2018 Merlot and the newly released OMG 2018, you’ll also enjoy hand-selected and house-created culinary treats to go along! Also, I just can’t not mention the fact that Blasted Church has a 2021 red blend called the Big Bang Theory that might just be perfect for this holiday.
For those who want a little bit of everything, enjoy the Westside Wine Trail’s Sip With Your Sweetheart event taking place on Saturday, February 11th Sunday, February 12th from 12pm to 4pm. Grab your free ticket here, and enjoy the complimentary wine and chocolate pairings at 13 participating wineries including Quail’s Gate, Mount Boucherie, Volcanic Hills, Ciao Bella, and Little Straw to name a few of my personal favourites.
For those who believe love is blind, trade in your traditional blind date for a blind tasting from Road 13 Vineyards. These Love is Blind “secret” wine sets allow wine lovers the opportunity to blind-taste a pair of exceptional wines in the comfort of their home (or bedroom). Without the distraction of a label, savour the unencumbered taste of time and place in each glass from this award-winning Okanagan winery. Afterwards, rip the wrap for a big reveal! Three separate sets are available to order now.
For those who love a good moody bundle, cuddle up with this Valentine’s Day set from TIME Family of Wines. This curated selection includes a bottle of Evolve Pink Eff, Chronos Rose, McWatters Red Meritage and a TIME Family of Wines scented Soy candle.
