A small mass was held yesterday at the Notre Dame Cathedral, two months after a devastating fire destroyed part of the historic building.
Group of parishioners gathered at the cathedral in the East Wing of the building, safety helmets and all. Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit presided over the mass.

The fire broke out on April 15, 2019 at the 800-year-old cathedral. Although the fire destroyed the church's spire and caused extensive damage to other parts of the building, but Paris fire chief Jean-Claude Gallet said the church's structure was saved.
French President Emmanuel Macron vowed that the Notre Dame would be rebuilt, saying “We will rebuild it. All together. This is a part of our French destiny.”
Canada may also help with efforts to rebuild the landmark after offering France some Canadian lumber and steel.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was visiting Paris in May, said Canada “will stand with France” and offer the country any support it can.
For now, it’s nice to see that the Notre Dame is still being visited and it’s beauty wasn’t lost in the tragic blaze.
