Police share detailed timeline of Las Vegas shooting

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo provided an update to the media regarding the Las Vegas shooting on Wednesday night.

Included in the update was a detailed timeline, providing information on what happened in the 82 minutes between the first shots and the confirmation that Stephen Paddock was down.

The first shots were fired at 10:05 p.m. and it only took seven minutes for officers to reach the 31st floor, just one floor below Paddock.

The last shots were fired three minutes later at 10:15 p.m. and the first two officers arrived on the 32nd floor at 10:17 p.m.

Just a minute later, a security officer tells police that he was shot and gives the exact location of the suspect’s room.

That’s when things start to slow down, as the gunfire stops and more officers arrive on the 32nd floor.

Paddock’s room is finally breached at 11:20 p.m., which is when officers first observe him down on the ground.

They also discovered a second door and room, which took another seven minutes to access and breach.

Finally, at 11:27 p.m., officers confirmed that there was no one else in either room and announced over the radio that the suspect was down.

Lombardo revealed a few other details on Wednesday, including the fact that police had reason to believe Paddock intended to survive the shooting.

However, he wouldn't share what information led police to that conclusion.

He did say that Paddock was "a man who spent decades acquiring weapons and ammo and living a secret live, much of which will never be fully understood."

"He meticulously planned on the worst domestic attack in United States History."
