Indigo mugs, houseware products recalled due to mould contamination

More than 30 Indigo-branded items have been recalled by Health Canada.

The recall is due to mould contamination and affects several mugs, houseware products and other similar items.

In an alert posted to its website Tuesday, Health Canada says the recalled items “may have been subject to humid conditions.”

“As a result, mould may be present under the glazed surface of the products,” the agency explained.

Mould ingestion may pose a risk of gastrointestinal symptoms and infections in consumers with compromised immune systems, Health Canada noted.

Fortunately, Indigo has received zero complaints of incidents or injuries in Canada as of Jan. 30.

If you have one or more of these products in your home, Health Canada advises you to stop using them immediately and return the product(s) to Indigo for a full refund.
