Second wave of flu spreading across British Columbia, Centre for Disease Control says

British Columbia is experiencing a second wave of flu due to an unusual late-season spread of the virus.

Most of the strains being reported are influenza A (H3N2), the BC Centre for Disease Control (BC CDC) said.

Levels of influenza B are “unusually low,” the centre added.

BC CDC data show a 50% surge in flu diagnoses over the last few weeks.

Case numbers peaked in early January and plummeted in February before a recent rise.

The centre explained: “It is too soon to know whether this second wave has peaked.”
