Aberdeen Mall Sears to close

The Sears in Aberdeen Mall will be closing as the retailer shutters 59 stores nationwide. Sears Canada announced today it has filed for creditor protection.

The company announced the closure of 20 full-line locations, 15 Sears Home stores, 10 Sears Outlet stores and 14 Sears Hometown stores, eliminating 2,900 jobs.

Other B.C. locations affected by the closures include Creston, Sechelt, Grand Forks and Abbotsford. Timing of store closures has not been finalized.
