1. It’s 420
It’s April 20, a day that is better known as simply ‘420’ to many people. It’s a day used to celebrate cannabis culture, which is done through very cloudy gatherings all over the world. For Canadians, today’s 420 is an interesting one as it’s almost certainly the final 420 celebration before cannabis is legalized later this year.

2. Central Berlin evacuated to clear unexploded World War II bomb
An area of Central Berlin, about 800 metres wide, was evacuated this morning to allow bomb squads to defuse an unexploded British bomb from World War II. The 1,100 lbs bomb wasn’t posing any immediate danger, according to police, but authorities took every necessary precaution.

3. The Wenatchee Wild are BCHL champions
For the first time since the Bellingham Blazers in 1979, the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) has an American champion. The Wenatchee Wild completed a four game sweep of the Prince George Spruce Kings on Thursday night to claim the title. The Wild only joined the BCHL in 2015 and will now move on to face the Alberta Junior Hockey League champions in the Doyle Cup.

4. U.S. students walk out to mark Columbine anniversary
Students across the United States walked out of class today to mark the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado. According to U.S. media, more than 2,000 walk outs are planned across the country. On April 20, 1999, 13 people were killed in the Columbine shooting.

5. Lance Armstrong agrees to pay U.S. government $5 million inlawsuit
Lance Armstrong and the United States government have settled a multi-year legal battle, which has resulted in the world-renowned cyclist paying the government $5 million. Armstrong violated his sponsorship agreement with the US Postal Service and damaged its reputation when it was revealed that he cheated by using performance enhancing drugs during races.
