1. Boeing recommends grounding of certain 777s after engine failure

All Boeing 777s with a certain engine should be grounded, the aircraft manufacturer has said in the wake of a dangerous engine failure in the US. It amounts to 128 planes. It comes after Flight 328, which was carrying 231 passengers, had to make an emergency landing in Denver after one of its engines blew.

2. Deputy PM says vaccine booing at Australian Open 'disgusting'

Australia's deputy prime minister said tennis fans who booed mention of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Australian Open are "disgusting." Michael McCormack said: "I don't like booing at any event, and certainly any sporting event," adding: "This vaccine is going to get our country back to some sort of pre-COVID normality."

3. Italian ambassador killed in attack on World Food Programme convoy

The Italian ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo has been killed in the troubled African country. Luca Attanasio, 43, died today after the UN convoy he was riding in was attacked in Goma. The convoy is thought to have belonged to the World Food Programme.

4. Calls for huge energy bills to be paid by State of Texas

Texans are calling on the state to pay off the enormous energy bills racked up by residents during a devastating winter storm. The mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, is among those saying it is not fair for ordinary Texans to be punished for severe weather. One US Army veteran has already spoken of his sadness after draining his savings to pay a $16,000 bill.

5. 139-year-old home driven through streets of San Francisco

A bizarre sight in San Francisco has got locals rubbernecking. A 139-year-old home has been driven through the streets to make way for a 48-unit, eight-storey building. The move cost the owner about $200,000.
