1. 12 dead, 134 injured after earthquake in China

A magnitude-5.9 earthquake rocked eastern Sichuan in China on Monday night. The tremor caused widespread damage as people reported violent shaking, swinging lights and more. Officials say 12 people died and another 134 have been reported as injured.


2. Social media star buys Hell, Michigan and renames it Gay Hell

Elijah Daniel is a social media star and musician, but now he’s also the owner of Hell, Michigan. Not only did Daniel buy the town, but he renamed it Gay Hell to protest the Trump administration after reports surfaced that the US State Department denied a number of embassies permission to fly the Pride flag during Pride Month.


3. Warriors take out full-page newspaper ad to congratulate Raptors

Toronto was celebrating the Raptors championship victory on Monday and anyone who cracked open the Toronto Star would have seen a classy move by the team they beat in the finals. The Golden State Warriors took out a full-page ad in the newspaper to congratulate the Raptors on their “historic achievement” and bring the title to Canada’s biggest city.


4. Another American tourist dies in the Dominican Republic

A New Jersey family is looking for answers after the death of Joseph Allen in the Dominican Republic. It’s the latest in a string of mysterious deaths in the popular vacation spot. The 55-year-old is the eighth American tourist to have died while on vacation in the Dominican Republic since last year.


5. Plane passengers capture volcano eruption from the sky

Plane passengers got more than their typical sunset or mountain top views while on a flight this past weekend. They witnessed Mexico’s Popocatépetl volcano erupting while they flew past. The eruption sent a plume of volcanic material between two and three miles into the sky, making for quite the scene!
