1. 4 dead after shooting at a 1-year-old’s birthday party in Texas
Four men are dead and another is injured after a fight escalated into a deadly shooting at a one-year-old’s birthday party in Texas. The altercation was between two families at the part in Taft, Texas and it’s the 190th mass shooting in the United States since 2009. Authorities didn’t say what the men were arguing about.

2. U.S. embassy in Australia apologizes for Cookie Monster Cat email invite
An apology has been issued by the United States embassy in Canberra after a strange email invite was sent out on Monday. They called it a “training error” after a fake meeting invitation, which included a photo of a pajama-wearing cat eating cookies, was sent out with the title “meeting.”

3. Canadian women qualify for World Cup with 7-0 win over Panama
Canada has secured a spot in the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France after a convincing win over Panama on Sunday. Christine Sinclair scored twice in the victory to bring her international goal total up to 177. The Canadian veteran is now only eight goals away from the all-time international goals record.

4. Hostage incident over at Cologne main station in Germany
A scary hostage situation has been dealt with at Germany’s Cologne train station. A man took a woman hostage inside a pharmacy, but police eventually stormed the store and were able to handle the threat. The woman is being treated by emergency services for minor injuries, while the attacker is now in police custody.

5. Former Liberal cabinet minister Donald Macdonald dead at 86
Donald Macdonald, who was elected to Canada’s House of Commons in 1962 and served under Pierre Trudeau, passed away on Sunday. He was 86-years-old. Tributes poured in for Macdonald on Sunday, as people called him a “legendary cabinet minister” and “a great Canadian.”
