1. Trinidad and Tobago health ministry finds no reports of vaccine-related testicular swelling

Following Nicki Minaj’s claims that her cousin’s friend’s testicle swelled up after getting the COVID-19 vaccine in Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean country investigated the claim. Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said there have been no such cases reported in Trinidad and Tobago. “Unfortunately, we wasted so much time yesterday running down this false claim,” he explained.


2. SpaceX launches first all-civilian space crew into orbit

Some history was made on Wednesday as the SpaceX shuttle Inspiration 4 was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. On board is the first all-civilian space crew, which includes billionaire Jared Isaacman, cancer survivor Hayley Arceneaux, geoscientist Dr. Sian Proctor and US Air Force veteran Chris Sembroski.


3. US, UK and Australia announce new defense pact

On Wednesday, United States president Joe Biden announced a new defense pact between the US, the United Kingdom and Australia. It’s called AUKUS and it will help the three countries share expertise in artificial intelligence, cyber underwater systems and long-range capabilities. In addition, Australia will obtain an American-made “conventionally armed” nuclear powered submarine.

5. Simone Biles and others speak at hearing on FBI’s handling of Nassar investigation

Four US gymnastic stars testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday during a hearing about the FBI’s handling of the sexual abuse investigation of former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar. Simone Biles blamed the entire system that allowed this abuse, including USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic Committee, saying that “the scars of this horrific abuse continue.”
