If you haven’t eaten at A&W in recent weeks, you may be unaware that the fast-food chain has made the transition to paper straws.
A&W has steadily been changing its restaurants from plastic to paper straws over the past few weeks and that transition is now complete.
It’s a move that will help keep around 82-million pieces of single-use plastics from landfills each year.
With the change now complete, the company obviously had a few plastic straws left over and decided to do something with them to raise awareness about the change.
The remaining 140,000 straws were used to created an art installation outside of Union Station in Toronto.
The typography sculpture reads “Change is good,” alluding to its aforementioned change in straw types and the good it’s doing for the environment.
While the sculpture is a great, creative endeavour, it also comes across a nudge or challenge to other food companies to follow A&W’s lead.
Unsurprisingly, the art installation has also been a very popular Instagram spot since it was unveiled.
