PHOTOS: Naniamo break and enter culprit turns out to be beaver

An attempted break and enter equipped with RCMP officers and a beaver is possibly the most Canadian crime ever.

Two nights ago at around 10:30 p.m., Jessica Boyd heard what she thought was a break and enter at her Naniamo home.

After a call to the neighbour and a call to the cops, the RCMP came down to investigate.

Upon arrival, RCMP immediately set up containment and approached the scene with caution, not knowing what they might be walking into.

With flashlights at hand, officers asked for the perpetrator to put their hands up.

But instead of hands, the perpetrator raised their paws.

The culprit was, in fact, a fully-grown beaver.

“I legit thought someone was breaking in,” said Boyd in a Facebook post.

Officers asked the culprit for identification but in one swift tail movement, the beaver took off through the yard.

No charges of trespassing are being recommended by officers at this time.

The only thing that could have made this scene more Canadian, is if the beaver turned around and apologized for the inconvenience.
