Last week to visit the Bloom Tulip Festival in Armstrong!

Gone are the days of Okanagan residents driving four hours away to experience the Bloom Tulip Festival. The relocation to Armstrong allows for some well-deserved attention to this friendly little community.

Bloom is open from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm and closes on May 22nd unless the weather permits for extended days. Parking is included in your ticket and furry friends on leash are welcome to join the family for a visit! Tickets are to be purchased online only and you can buy them here.

Rows upon rows of colourful blooms stretch the span of 2.5 acres, making this the perfect spot for family, couples or even solo photos. Jenna Swetlikoff, local content creator, and I connected with the talented Rachel Lewko to photograph our visit.

Rachel and her husband, Ethan, @lewkophotography on Instagram, just so happened to have also relocated from the lower mainland to Armstrong for a smaller community and slower pace of life. Although, I’m not sure how much slower it is for this talented photography couple with wedding season upon us!

Rachel’s eye for artistic shots astounded us, we had so much fun playing with the lighting and props. She has captured some of the most precious family photos in the fields as well.

The Bloom Festival provides visitors with over 20 varieties of tulips to enjoy. There are photo props, food trucks on site, a u-pick section to enjoy, cut flower sales, as well as a picnic area with lawn games for the whole family.

There’s definitely a vibe here that says come enjoy the beauty of nature with your family and spend time among the flowers and each other.

Opportunities for sunrise and sunset visits are some of the most popular for getting those enchanting photos. While the weekends see many visitors, I found this location to be peaceful.

I remember feeling quite overwhelmed by the sheer amount of traffic and bodies when I visited the festival on the coast. It makes me feel lucky to have this available to us so close to home.

Come to the festival prepared for all weather and the possibility of mud. Tulip photos with big rain boots are the cutest anyways!

In case you miss the tulips this year, don’t worry, the sunflower festival in the fall is equally as stunning and wonderfully set up for photos and family fun. Held at the same farm location, the sunflower festival is the perfect celebration of summer’s conclusion. I highly recommend Rachel Lewko for your family photos, she was so creative and wonderful to work with.

Make an entire day out of your visit by stopping in at Farmstrong Cider Company, the Village Cheese Company, The Wild Oak Cafe, and the BX Creek and Falls hike on the way home.

Join the BC Bucket List Family next as we head to Revelstoke Mountain Resort to celebrate the opening of the mountain and free spring passes to Revelstoke National Park. Follow along on Instagram @loewenlifestyle!
