Residents in and around Lillooet are without an emergency department this weekend.
The ER at Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre shut its doors at 7 am on Saturday and is not expected to reopen until 8 am on Monday, March 24.
Patients in the area needing emergency services are asked to access care at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
While the ER in Lillooet is temporarily closed, all other inpatient services will continue as normal.
Interior Health did not state the reason for the two-day ER closure at the Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre.
“People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (ie, chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility,” said Interior Health.
“Anyone unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.”
