Mounties in the BC Interior are investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle and driver that allegedly attempted to lure a child.
According to a news release issued by the Salmon Arm RCMP, the vehicle, described as a white minivan, approached an elementary school aged child and offered to drive them somewhere.
Fortunately, the child declined and ran away from the area. Police say the child was not harmed and returned home to notify a parent who called the police.
The police say they were told that the vehicle sped off in the opposite direction.
The incident happened in the 300-block of 30th Street NE in Salmon Arm. There are two schools in that area.
Now the RCMP are looking to identify the vehicle and driver.
The make and model of the minivan are unknown but it did have a cracked windshield, slightly tinted back windows, dents on the driver’s and passenger side doors, a sticker near the rear window that said “Do or Die” with a picture of a school.
No licence plate number of obtained, however.
Police say the driver was described as a caucasian man between 30-40 years old and was wearing black hoodie and black toque.
According to the report, he had stubble facial hair, no visible tattoos and spoke English with no accent.
The incident happened in the 300-block of 30th Street NE in Salmon Arm.
The RCMP are looking to speak to witnesses or obtain home video surveillance or dash cam footage in the area between 2:30 pm and 2:55 pm on Sept. 10.
