The Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SDMCU) is leading the investigation into a woman’s death in Sicamous Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the scene in a mobile home park at 1707 Hillier Rd. around 4:50 am for a report of an unresponsive woman.
Paramedics did their best to provide medical assistance to the victim, who was found in a driveway, but she was declared dead at the scene.
The investigation has identified the victim as 66-year-old Jo Ann Jackson of Sicamous.
According to police, a man was located in the area and arrested for manslaughter before being transported to the Salmon Arm RCMP detachment.
He has since been released from custody with a series of conditions to abide by, most notably an order not to return to the mobile home park.
“Jackson’s death is believed to be an isolated incident. However, investigators believe there could be a potential public safety risk,” noted an RCMP release.
“Therefore, police will also be implementing additional measures within our authority in an effort to mitigate public safety concerns.”
Investigators are urging any member of the public who has information on this crime, or video footage from the area between 1-5:30 am on Wednesday, to contact the SDMCU tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
