Logan Stankoven named to Team Canada for U18 World Championship

One of the Kamloops Blazers’ brightest stars will be wearing the maple leaf this spring.

Hockey Canada announced on Thursday that Logan Stankoven is one of 25 players who will represent the country at the IIHF U18 World Championships.

The tournament will be played in Frisco and Plano, Texas from April 26 until May 6, 2021.

Unfortunately for Blazers fans, that means Stankoven will be out of the lineup after April 12, as he’ll begin self-isolation on that date in anticipation of travelling to Texas.

The 17-year-old has been a huge part of the Blazers over the past two years, scoring 29 goals and adding 19 assists in 59 games during his rookie season.

He’s off to a hot start this season as well, with three goals and one assist in his first two games of the 2020-21 WHL season.

Kamloops is off to a hot start as well, as a 6-1 win over the Prince George Cougars on Thursday night pushed the team’s record to 3-0.
