BC reports 1,068 new COVID cases, record-high 14,100 people currently in self isolation

B.C. health officials reported 1,068 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, along with three new deaths.

Of the new cases, 352 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 492 were in the Fraser Health region, 73 were in Island Health, 106 were in Interior Health, and 43 were in Northern Health.

The number of people in self-isolation has spiked to a record high 14,101 people.

There are now 328 people in hospital, up 10 patients since Monday, with a record high 96 patients in intensive care with the virus.

Dr. Bonnie Henry also confirmed another 207 cases of these variants of concern, all but one of which are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region.

As of Tuesday, seniors over the age of 71 and all Indigenous adults 18 and older can now make a vaccination appointment.

To date, 912,056 doses of the vaccines have been administered, 87,474 of which are second doses.
