Just over the weekend, health officials have reported 229 COVID-19 cases in the past three days, bringing the total number of active cases to 1204.
From June 18 to 19, an additional 94 cases were reported, and from June 19 to 20 there were 90 cases. In the past 24 hours only 45 COVID-19 cases have been identified.
Of these new cases 51 are from Vancouver Coastal, 99 in the Fraser Health region, five from Island Health, 60 from Interior Health, and 13 in the Northern Health Region.
There are currently 108 people in hospital, with 47 of those individuals in critical care. An additional three deaths have been reported bringing the total number of people lost to COVID-19 in BC to 1743.
Fraser Health has also confirmed a healthcare facility outbreak at Eagle Ridge Hospital.
In a combined statement from Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health, Adrian Dix, they remind citizens of the importance of immunization. “On what is also the first day of summer, we encourage everyone to start your summer off right by ensuring you have your first dose, if you have not already done so. Dose 1 drop-in clinics are open at a number of locations around the province.”
“In particular, as the school year comes to a close, we encourage all eligible youth, those 12 and older, to get your first dose before the summer holidays begin. This will allow you and your family to enjoy your summer even more, knowing you have protection from COVID-19.”
Currently 77.3% of all adults in BC and 75.8% of those 12 and older have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
In total 4,436,432 doses of Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines have been administered in BC, with 935,401 of those being second doses.
