Search continues on Okanagan Lake for missing swimmer

Search and rescue efforts continue on Okanagan Lake in an attempt to locate a missing 23-year-old Kamloops man.

On Saturday, July 15th at 5:30 p.m., eight individuals were boating on Okanagan Lake when they stopped to swim between Gyro Park and Kinsmen Park.

They then proceeded towards the Bennett Bridge, which is when they realized that one passenger wasn’t on board.

When they failed to locate the man where they had previously been swimming, they contacted the RCMP at 6:30 p.m.

Police immediately initiated a search for the man, but failed to locate him.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, along with the police and RCMP Air Services, search the lake with no success.

The E Division Underwater Recovery Team will be attending the area in the coming days in an effort to locate the man.

Police have been in contact with the man’s family and are keeping them informed on the search efforts.
