Canadian actor and Superman star Margot Kidder dies at age 69

Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane for nearly a decade in the Superman film series, has died.

The Canadian actor died on Sunday in Montana, but a cause of death has not been released.

She was 69 years old.

Kidder got her start in acting through a number of low-budget Canadian films and T.V. series, but broke into mainstream fame in 1978.

That’s when she landed a role as Lois Lane, starring alongside Christopher Reeve in “Superman.”

She also starred in the three sequels, which came out in 1980, 1983 and 1987.

Her career slowed down after she had a highly publicized manic episode and nervous breakdown in 1996, but regained steady work in the industry by the 2000s.

In her later years, she used her voice to be a political, environmental and anti-war activist.

Her dating resume is an impressive one as well, as she was linked romantically to former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Steven Spielberg, Richard Pryor and others.

She was also married three times, so Thomas McGuane, John Heard and Philippe de Broca.

She’s survived by her daughter Maggie McGuane, as well as her two grandchildren.
