Move over Michael Jackson, there’s a new best selling album of all time.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently certified the Eagles’ "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" album as 38 times platinum.
“Both of these transcendent albums have impressively stood the test of time, only gaining more currency and popularity as the years have passed, much like the Eagles themselves.” #RIAATopCertified Congrats to the Eagles! pic.twitter.com/TidxJv3YAn

With more than 38 million sales and streams, it flies by Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" album, which is 33 times platinum to become the best selling record ever.
The greatest hits album came out in February 1976 and the band followed it up later that year with their iconic "Hotel California" album, which is certified 26 times platinum by the RIAA.
That’s good enough for third on the all time list, giving the band from Los Angeles, California two of the top three selling albums in history.
“Congratulations to the Eagles, who now claim the jaw-dropping feat of writing and recording two of the top three albums in music history,” said Cary Sherman, chairman and CEO, RIAA.
“Both of these transcendent albums have impressively stood the test of time, only gaining more currency and popularity as the years have passed, much like the Eagles themselves.”
The RIAA hadn’t tallied sales of the Eagles "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" since 2006, at which point the album had 29 million sales.
Nine million sales in the last dozen years helped the 10 song record fly by "Thriller" to claim top spot on the list.
