There will be a Sasquatch conference in Merritt next weekend.
With the theme ‘What We’ve Learned about Sasquatch,’ the first Nicola Valley Bigfoot Conference will be held at Shulus Community Arena on May 13 from 8 am to 6 pm.
Sheldon Quewezance, the organizer of the event, says this is a great way to bring people together.
The conference will feature guest speakers from the Bigfoot community, including an author, cryptozoologist researcher, Sasquatch historian and Sasquatch communicator.
“We’re also going to have a Q and A session at the end, and we’re making it as inclusive as we possibly can,” Quewezance adds.
In addition, there will be a variety of vendors selling artwork, t-shirts, photos and food.
“I’ve been fascinated with Sasquatch ever since I was a little boy,” Quewezance explains. “I’ve always had this yearning to learn more about them.”
Two and a half years ago, Quewezance started the Nicola Valley Bigfoot Podcast.
“My two best friends and I started a research group, and I use that term very loosely because it was more of us just hanging out in the forest, but once COVID hit, we couldn’t get out anymore,” he says.
“I still have this desire to continually grow my knowledge, and while I listened to all these other Sasquatch podcasts, I thought maybe I can just start one and learn on my own, and that’s what I did.”
As Quewezance got more involved in the Sasquatch community, he noticed that people were wanting a conference in the BC Interior.
“That planted the seed in the back of my head about maybe putting something together, so that’s where the conference started, just from my love of learning about Sasquatch.”
Admission to the event is $30 and tickets are available for pre-order at [email protected].
Quewezance adds: “I’m really looking forward to meeting people and seeing them there.”
