Two tea blends recalled across British Columbia amid salmonella concerns

Two tea blends have been recalled across British Columbia amid worries they are contaminated with salmonella.

Organic Matters brand teas are being taken off the shelves after the recall from OM Foods Inc.

The Organic Tulsi Tea Blend (Holy Basil) and Organic OM Tea Blend are both affected.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency warned people they should not consume the products.

“Check to see if you have recalled products in your home,” the agency said.

“Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.”

The CFIA added: “Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.

“Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.

“Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”
