CRD asks people not to decorate trees in public parks

The Capital Regional District (CRD) needs some people to dial back the Christmas spirit.

In a PSA shared on social media, the CRD asked people not to decorate trees or shrubs in parks this holiday season.

“We live in one of the most naturally beautiful places on the planet – let’s keep it that way!” the district said.

“Although well-intentioned and festive, holiday decorations and tree trimmings left in regional parks can quickly become trash in high winds and bad weather.”

They added that the decorations can also pose risks to curious wildlife, who may try to consume them or use them as nesting material.
