Submissions for social planning grants can now be made by non-profit organizations in Kamloops.
A total of $70,000 is available for 2016 to help support local community initiatives. Of that, $10,000 is specifically designated for seniors’ initiatives in Kamloops.
In order to be eligible for the funding, the activities planned must strengthen and enhance the well-being of Kamloops, promote volunteering, promote cultural understanding, and address social concerns.
Roughly 15 to 25 different non-profit organizations and societies apply each year and the grants will be allocated through an evaluation process facilitated by staff on recommendation by the Social Planning Council.
An information session about the grants will take place on October 21st at the Development and Engineering Services Building at 105 Seymour Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Application details and materials can be found on the City of Kamloops website here. Deadline for submissions is November 20th at 4 p.m.
