ORIGINAL STORY: May 18th
Due to the flooding in the Nicola Valley, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has declared a State of Local Emergency.
The state of local emergency exists in Electoral Area "N" due to flooding.
Now that a state of local emergency has been declared, the Emergency Program Act is now in play.
This allows the TNRD to work around the waterways adding flood protection and putting erosion protection in place.
It also allows the TNRD to clear obstructions from bridges or culverts.
Residents are reminded that if they feel they are in imminent danger, they should evacuate immediately.
For information on sandbagging supplies, call the TNRD Emergency Operations Centre: 1-866-377-7188.
