A Kamloops man has been charged following a stabbing that took a man's life on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, at 10:34 am, officer responded to Clarke Street for a reported 9-1-1 call. Upon arrival, police found a 39-year-old Kamloops man who had been stabbed.
The victim, now identified as Paul Samuel Whitten, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Royal Inland Hospital.
A short time later, police arrested Jason Michael Holm, another Kamloops resident. Holm has now been charged with one count of second-degree murder contrary to section 235 of the Criminal Code.
"Although charges have been laid, this investigation is not over," said S/Sgt. Simon Pillay. "We are releasing a picture of Jason Holm in the hopes the public can assist this investigation. We are asking for anyone who saw Mr. Holm in the downtown area of Kamloops on Saturday, Aug 1, 2020, to please contact the RCMP. He may have been walking in the downtown core anytime between 6:30 am and 12:00 pm. If you saw Mr. Holm, had contact with him, or know anything else about this investigation, please contribute to the safety of our community by contacting our investigators."
Holm is a Caucasian man who stands at 6'3" and weighs approximately 250 pounds. He has various teardrop tattoos on his face and a red neck tattoo of the "Cobra" emblem.
This incident was not connected to organized crime or the drug trade. Holm and Whitten were known to each other prior to the murder.
