Kamloops' Central Interior Traffic Services (CITS) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Hwy 97D near Logan Lake last weekend.

According to police, on Saturday at 10 a.m., Logan Lake RCMP received a report of a fatal crash on the highway near Highland Valley Ranch.

After arriving at the scene, police found that a grey Acura Integra left the highway and went down an embankment. The lone female occupant had been ejected from the vehicle and was deceased at the scene.

Though the vehicle was not visible from the highway and the collision was not witnessed, police believe it occurred sometime on Friday afternoon before being discovered the next morning.

CITS, South East Districts Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, and the BC Coroners Service are continuing to investigate the crash. At this time, it is believed a lack of seatbelt and possible impairment were contributing factors. The driver has been identified, and her family has been notified of what happened.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage on the incident is asked to call CITS at (250)828-3111.
