City of Kamloops annual auction returns next week

The City of Kamloops is hosting its annual auction next week to get rid of unclaimed items acquired by the City and the RCMP as well as old city-owned equipment.

Up for auction this year includes a 2007 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, bicycles, power tools, office equipment, and much more.

“In recent years, our annual auction has become an effective tool for managing City assets,” said Ray Sison, the City’s Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager.

“It’s always rewarding to recoup taxpayer dollars and find homes for useful assets while offering great deals to local residents and businesses, and in some cases, reuniting lost or stolen items with their rightful owners. It’s win-win-win all around.”

Online bidding runs from 9 am April 24 until 9 am on April 27.

Besides offering a great deal to residents and helping to manage items acquired by the city and RCMP, the auction also serves as a way for residents to search for items they may have lost or had stolen.

People who have lost or had items stolen are encouraged to attend the in-person viewings, which will be held at the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre curling rink from 10 am to 6 pm daily throughout the auction, until 3:30 pm on April 27.

A full inventory, including pictures, will be available on the Team Auctions website, which will also serve as the exclusive platform for bidding.

Identified items should be promptly reported to the city’s planning and procurement department by emailing [email protected] and Team Auctions at [email protected].

If you identify something that belongs to you, be sure to include your full name, contact number and a detailed description of the item along with the associated auction number.

Items that are claimed will be immediately withdrawn from the auction.
