Kamloops emergency crews had to respond quickly when dealing with a resident in the water.
According to witness Nathan Ritchie, Kamloops Fire Rescue, Kamloops RCMP and the BC Ambulance Service all responded to the South Thompson River near the Kal-Tire Retread Plant shortly before noon for a river rescue.
Ritchie mentioned hearing the words "no signs of life" on the radio, though that has not been confirmed.
Crews are still on-site and attending to the affected people. At this point, injuries are unknown.
