River and creek levels seem to have peaked in areas throughout the Thompson-Nicola region but are expected to remain high over the coming days, says the BC River Forecast Centre.
On Monday, the forecast centre ended flood watches for tributaries of the South Thompson River including the Salmon River, Eagle River, Adams River; Shuswap River and Thompson River downstream of Kamloops Lake.
The South Thompson and Bonaparte rivers are still under a high streamflow advisory, however.
“On the South Thompson River, levels have reached peak levels, but have yet to experience a declining trend,” says the BCRFC.
“Levels are expected to remain high over the coming days before receding, and no significant additional river rises are expected at this time.”
The public is advised that water levels can still be fast-flowing at times so, staying clear of unstable riverbanks is advised.
